Where can I find maintenance information for my vehicle?

Your Owner’s Manual contains all relevant maintenance information regarding your vehicle. You may obtain an owner’s manual by contacting our Parts Department.

Where can I get a service manual?

You may obtain a service manual by contacting our Parts Department.

Where can I get a recall or service bulletin performed?

Recalls and service bulletins must be performed by an authorized Club Car dealer. We will be happy to work with you and guide you through the process. Please contact our Service Department for more information.

Does Club Car have an outstanding recall or service bulletin posted?

Past recall and service bulletins are available through our Service Department.

Why should I perform maintenance on my vehicle?

Careful periodic maintenance will help keep your vehicle in the safest, most reliable condition. Inspection, adjustment and lubrication of important components are explained in the periodic maintenance schedule found in your owner’s manual.

When should I perform maintenance on my vehicle?

Based on the schedule in your owner’s manual and Maintenance Service Schedule.

How should I inspect my vehicle?

Inspect, clean, lubricate, adjust and replace parts as necessary. When inspection reveals the need for replacement parts use genuine Club Car products available from Club Car of Sun City. Please contact our Parts Department to order the parts you need. We will be happy to inspect your vehicle and manage any repairs or maintenance. Please contact our Service Department to schedule an appointment.

Who can perform maintenance on my vehicle?

Although you may perform your own maintenance it is best to have an authorized Club Car service center perform any necessary maintenance required for your vehicle. We will be happy to inspect your vehicle and manage any repairs or maintenance. Please contact our Service Department to schedule an appointment.

Are specification charts available?

Specification charts are available on www.clubcar.com for current models. To see if they are available for your model please choose your model then click on the Specs link.

Am I required to take my Club Car vehicle to an authorized Club Car dealer for service and maintenance work?

We recommend you have an authorized Club Car dealer service your vehicle. Using a non-authorized dealer may void your warranty. We will be happy to inspect your vehicle and manage any repairs or maintenance. Please contact our Service Department to schedule an appointment.

The Tow/Run switch should be placed in the TOW position under the following conditions:

Before Towing the Vehicle

Place the Tow/Run switch in the TOW position to disable all motor braking functions, thus preventing possible damage that could occur to the vehicle or electrical components if the vehicle is towed while the walk-away braking motor braking function is operating.

Before Disconnecting or Connecting Battery Cables

Place the Tow/Run switch in the TOW position to turn off power to the vehicle electrical system, thus preventing severe arcing and possible battery explosion as the battery cables are disconnected.

For Long Term Storage

Place the Tow/Run switch in the TOW position to turn off power to the vehicle electrical system, thus preventing vehicle electrical components from discharging the batteries.

Battery Maintenance

Battery maintenance is one of the most common challenges in our industry. With the cost involved we always recommend maintaining your batteries correctly. We see customers over fill their batteries, this causes issues in their batteries and the life of the batteries are reduced. Some customers are saying that they prefer gas carts because of the maintenance. Consider this carefully because gas carts need maintenance too. 

We took the following information from Trojan Battery Sales, they recommend the following:

BATTERY MAINTENANCE GUIDE

SAFETY:

  • Always wear protective clothing, gloves and goggles when handling batteries
  • If acid contacts your skin or eyes, flush with water immediately
  • Keep flames, sparks and metal objects away from batteries
  • Charge batteries in a well-ventilated area
  • To avoid short circuits do not lay objects on top of battery
  • Check that all cable connections to the terminal are properly tightened; connections that are too tight or too loose could result in post breakage, meltdown or fire

INSPECTION & CLEANING:

  • Keep batteries clean and dry from residue
  • Check that all vent caps are tight
  • Use a solution of baking soda and water to clean if there is acid residue on batteries or corrosion on the terminals
  • Protective spray or petroleum jelly should be applied to terminals to reduce corrosion

STORAGE:

  • Batteries should be fully charged prior to and during storage
  • Never store discharged batteries
  • Store batteries in a cool, dry place
  • Recharge batteries before putting them back into service

WATERING:

  • ADD WATER, NEVER ACID, TO CELLS (distilled water recommended)
  • DO NOT OVERWATER (This will cause the batteries to overflow when charging and damage cables, frame on carts without battery tub and garage floor)
  • Before charging the batteries, only add water if the plates are exposed. Add just enough water to cover the plates, then charge the batteries.
  • Once fully charged, add water to the proper level as indicated in Diagram A
  • For fully charged standard deep-cycle batteries, add water to level of 1/8” (3 mm) below bottom of vent well (see diagram A)
  • For fully charged Plus Series batteries, add water to the maximum water level indicator.

  • After watering, secure vent caps back on batteries
  • For faster, easier and safer battery watering, ask about Trojan’s HydroLink Watering System or Club Car’s Preferred watering system supplier.

If you are uncertain about maintaining your batteries contact us or drop by and we can show you. Batteries are not cheap and if we can help you get the longest life in your batteries we are glad to help. We also offer free water check days on a Tuesday and Thursday morning and also offer a service plan where we service your cart (see Maintenance plan) every 6 weeks.

Charging your cart

Carts should be charged every day if you use the cart for longer distances. Use your Battery Gauge if present to determine if the carts needs a charge. Most manufacturers will recommend daily charging after every use but only charge the cart once a day for at least 8 hours.

Service

Most manufactures recommend servicing your cart every 6 months, when the cart is new this will be sufficient but as they get older it may need some extra maintenance. 

Tire Pressure

Check your tire pressure regularly, we see a lot of cart that have below 20 – 25 lbs. This causes uneven wear on tires. 

Bushings

We get a lot of customers that neglect to check their bushings, it is common amongst all golf carts that the bushings deteriorate. Keep an eye on the cart and when that start cracking it is recommended to change them. We sell the kits if you want to install them yourself or we can install them for you. 

Wheel Alignment

If your Club Car is wearing unevenly in the front it is usually bushings but if your bushings are good it probably is your wheel alignment that is off. Contact us for an alignment/checkup.
